Life is better PINK

The past week has been busy busy. I've been working 20 hours a week at Michaels plus my regular schedule at Firebirds and yesterday I had a much needed day of rest. I had about 5 of my best girlfriends over to my apartment where we proceeded to sit on our asses all day long and watch the second season of Grey's Anatomy. I taught two of my friends how to knit (woo!) and finished some projects up myself. It was a fantastic day and I think we need to make it happen more often for sure.

I'm going to post pictures of some of the projects I've finished. I finished a scarf I've been working on yesterday, but I still want to add a little bling and fringe to it. I also have picked back up crocheting and I made a cute pink dishcloth yesterday for our kitchen, it's so cute!! I love being so crafty. :)

Lazy Days

Being off of school this semester has not been that productive so far......I've just been laying around the house on my days off and I never feel like working. Anywho, I've recently relapsed into my knitting addiction and have been busy knitting scarves for the fast approaching cold-weather. I'm feeling adventurous though, this is the first time in a long time that I've had time, so I was thinking of tackling a sweater or some other large object. My patience is shorter than most, though, so we'll see how THAT works out.

On another note, my team, the Redskins, seriously dissapointed me in their Monday night opener last night. I mean, it was the Vikings. And they lost, 19-16. What the hell?!

Ok, time for more lazyness before work tonight!

Recently I've found myself surrounded by the mortality of human life. Sure, people die every day, but it seems like it's getting closer and closer to me. A few weeks ago a girl got abducted from our mall parking lot, and they found her half naked body floating in a nearby creek. Not only was this girl 21, like I am, but she worked in the mall. I was in that mall parking lot less than an hour after her. And, although authorities have found her killer (he shot himself), they are still unable to find a connection between the two, posing the theory that this was a random crime, which sends chills right through me. It reminds me of the episode of Grey's Anatomy where the young girl comes in, fighting for her life from a brutal rape, and she is wearing the same shoes as Meredith's character.

The thing that bothers me the most is that this happened in West End. Not in NYC, or downtown Richmond, which are both places where you heighten your senses. This is a place I go every day and do not even think twice about it.

And now, one of my coworkers is in the hospital. She's really, really sick, and the doctors can't figure out what's wrong with her, they've been running tests for a week. One day she was fine, an the next she was in the hospital. Again, she's about the same age as me. I see her all the time. What if it had been me?

It is comforting to know, however, that my coworkers are very caring people. I made a card for Bree, only to bring it in to find someone had beat me to it. No problem, everyone signed both cards. And, one of the bartenders has been collecting money from people to give to her to help pay her bills while she is out. How nice is that?

I guess it's when things like these happen it reminds you that nothing is certain. I could get in a car accident on the way to work today and I would never know it was coming. We've always been told that life is short, but you never really know exactly HOW short yours is. I could live to see 100, or the clock may already be ticking. I'm hoping for the former, though.

Fall is nearly here

I can't believe it. It's September. This weekend was the labor day holiday and was fantastic tip-wise. We were super busy and I managed to pick up some awesome shifts. I still have a lot of money to make to pay down my bills but I'm off to a good start.

It was chilly today. Not cold, but there was that crispness to the air. Kind of damp but the kind of weather that makes you want to put on your hoodie and call it a night. The thought of fall has hit me hard and I've pulled out my knitting and began on my winter scarves. I played around all night with new stitches and I will get some new yarn tomorrow.

Why tomorrow? Because I start my second job at Michaels, woo! I'll be receiving 25% off all my purchases there which I've decided could be a very bad thing. Oh well. At least I'll be bringing in extra money. (Theoretically)

Ok time for bed. I'm freakin exhausted.

Rain Rain Go Away

Well the past week has been.....interesting. Right now we are in the middle of a Tropical Storm that will, no doubt, stall over Richmond and dump like 14 inches of rain flooding everything all over again. And, to make this better, I work a double today, in Short Pump mall, which for those of you who don't know is an OUTDOOR mall. Good thing my rent isn't due in a couple of days or anything.

On a good note, I got a job at Michaels! I start next week and they actually offered me pretty decent money, considering I'm just going to be a cashier.

Well, got to go. A long day of boredom awaits me.
